When WeEngage was founded, we had one mission; to build the most impactful headhunting agency on the planet. This was underpinned by two main goals in our mind; to make an impact, and to redefine the perception of the recruitment industry. We wanted to do something different, something we could be proud of, and build a business that made more than just shareholder value.
We were inspired by entrepreneurs like Mark Benioff and after reading his book Trailblazer we quickly realised the future was to create a company as a ‘force for good’. We joined Pledge1%, partnered with ecologi to reduce our carbon footprint, and began building the foundations of a company that would change the lives of many people, helping them find work in a sector that allows them to do great work by applying their skills to solve one of the biggest challenges we face today.
Making good progress, it became clear that we wanted to verify our claims. Transparently report them to our stakeholders, and showcase the work we were doing. Undertaking the B Corp Certification was a natural next step for us as it aligned strongly with our way of working and values.
Today, we are thrilled to announce that we have reached a huge milestone in this journey by becoming a Certified B Corporation.
B Corp’s meet high standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. It’s an indicator of a business that has gone through scrutiny and one that has been assessed rigorously on 5 operational output areas across; Governance, Workers, Community, Customers and The Environment.
At WeEngage, our mission is well-defined. To build the most impactful headhunting agency on the planet changing the lives of our candidates, supporting our local community, and causing no harm to our planet. This mission harmonies directly with B Corp and our Certification underpins the work we have done and will continue to do!
As a business, we have grown through the journey and continued to learn and make improvements across those 5 areas. Every day was a learning experience and a constant reminder of why we put people and the planet first.
None of this would have been possible without our incredible team, customers, suppliers and candidates. We’re proud to continue to redefine our sector and make an impact through every interaction we make.
We will now be getting to work to improve our score in all areas ahead of our 3-year review cycle and continue to inspire others to join the global movement creating a more responsible and greener future. B Corp certification isn’t easy, but it’s a challenge we would welcome every business to take in the fight to make businesses a force for good!
